Another education transformation?? God help us - 1Christians

PAGOH, Aug 20 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak will launch the blueprint for education reforms in the country on September 11, said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

According to Muhyiddin, the contents of the blueprint comprise views, recommendations and feedback on efforts to enhance the education system in the country.

After the launch, the blueprint will be displayed for public viewing so as to gather feedback from all the relevant parties. The contents will then be fine-tuned and tabled in the Cabinet for approval by year end.

“The implementation will be carried out in three stages over a period of 13 years, with the first wave of changes taking place over a three-year period while the second and third over five-year periods.

“During the first wave of changes, priority will be given to aspects of education that can be easily implemented and which can make an impact without changing the entire structure or incur huge financial implications,” he told reporters at his open house held at the Sri Pekembar Complex here today.

Muhyiddin said the government hoped to elevate the country’s education system to be among the best in the world by 2025.

The reforms will cover English, Mathematics, and Science. They will also specify the powers vested in the district education offices.

He added that English Literature would also be reintroduced into the system, in accordance with the prime minister’s proposal, to enhance the use of the English language among students. — Bernama
