The DAP adviser cited Sunday’s French presidential elections as an example, and how incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy had conceded defeat just minutes after polls closed and even called his successor Francois Hollande to wish the latter “good luck”.

owes Malaysians a clear accounting what he would do if the voters in
the 13th general election choose to change the federal government in
Putrajaya — whether he would accept the verdict of the voters like
Sarkozy or whether he would revert to his Umno general assembly threat
of ‘crushed bodies, lives lost’ to defend Umno power in Putrajaya at any
cost?,” Lim (picture) said in a statement here, referring to a speech he alleged Najib had made during Umno’s 2010 general assembly. The Ipoh Timor MP also flayed the prime minister for suggesting that the April 28 Bersih 3.0 rally was a coup attempt by the opposition to topple the present government.
Insisting that the peaceful movement had only wanted to demand clean and fair polls, Lim said Najib’s allegation indicates that the latter “has become quite paranoid”.
He pointed out that Bersih 3.0 participants were merely armed with water bottles and salt to defend themselves against police tear gas and chemical-laced water, which showed their purpose was not to mount a coup.
“Malaysians want to know whether Najib would apologise and retract not only his wild and baseless allegation of Bersih 3.0 as a coup attempt to overthrow the government, but also his irresponsible speech at the 2010 Umno general assembly of ‘crushed bodies, lives lost’ for Umno to defend power at any cost in Putrajaya as it is totally inimical to his claim of wanting to make Malaysia the best democracy in the world,” he said.
