Malaysian Election Observation Network (MEO-Net) coordinator Ong Boon Keong has been brought to the Kuching Immigration office today, after he was arrested while visiting a rural village near Kuching.
Ong, also known as Organic Ong, who is still at the Kuching Immigration office, told Malaysiakini that he had entered Sarawak last Saturday for post-election watch work.
This morning, Ong (left) and two friends went to Bengoh Dam, a half-hour drive from Kuching, to visit some local villagers there.
However, at around 11am, about 10 Immigration officers in five vehicles came and picked him up. They brought him alone to the Kuching Immigration office.
When contacted, Ong said he has no idea why the authorities have brought him in.
“Maybe they don't like what I did in the past.”
Election watchdog Sibu Election Watch coordinator Wong Meng Chuo claims that Ong faces the possibility of immediate deportation.
It is also learnt that Ong will be questioned by the authorities at 2pm.
