Serdang parliamentarian Teo Nie Ching was left stranded yesterday in Kajang when she found her Honda Civic window smashed and her belongings stolen.
Ironically, Teo said she was unable to get any police assistance for over an hour, only to find Special Branch members at a Pakatan ceramah she attended later.
“After the incident, I rushed to a ceramah where I could see more than five Special Branch officers.
"We need more police to patrol on the road, (not) supervising Pakatan ceramah,” she tweeted last night.
Teo discovered the burglary at around 9.30pm, about an hour after she left her car at an open-air carpark outside a restaurant in Kajang.
The nine-month pregnant DAP leader found her global positioning system (GPS) device, a camera and a bag containing various documents belonging to her personal assistant missing.
“I was surprised that they did not take away my (highway prepaid device) SmartTAG,” she said when contacted by Malaysiakini today.
Made to wait for hours
Teo also took a swipe at the police for making her and her aide waited for hours before a report could be lodged on the matter.
According to Teo, she had immediately contacted the police on discovering the burglary and was told to remain there to wait for the police to arrive at the scene.
However, she waited for about an hour, and when the police did not show up, she called again and was told that she should instead go to the police station.
Teo’s assistant subsequently went to the police instruction and he was again made to wait - this time for another two and half hours - at the station before his statement was eventually taken.
“I cannot stand such police’s inefficiency,” Teo complained.
The MP has since uploaded a photo of her damaged car window on the Internet; and it was shared by 576 netizens at press time.
“Of course, our BN leaders will say this is another isolated case,” she tweeted last night, referring to the public concern over the recent rise in crime rate.
