Sri Tanjong state assemblyperson Jimmy Wong has cried foul over the
Sabah legislative assembly speaker's decision to reject his motion of no
confidence against Chief Minister Musa Aman.
In a press release yesterday, Wong said no reason was given by the speaker.
"This has damaged the spirit of democracy. People have the right to know," said Wong.
Wong's motion was based on news reports that Musa (left in photo) was being implicated in a money laundering scandal in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong's Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) was
reported to have initiated a probe against Musa over the alleged
laundering of US$90 million (RM276 million) in timber kickbacks through a Swiss UBS bank account in the territory as well as Switzerland.
London-based whistleblower website Sarawak Report claimed to be in
possession of documents which showed that Malaysian authorities have
refused to cooperate with its Hong Kong counterparts.
The
website is also blaming attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail, who is said
to be related to Musa, for putting the brakes on Malaysian authorities
investigating Musa.
The Sabah legislative assembly convened yesterday for a three-day sitting.
