
"This means the police can now send me a summons notice to hand over the documents, failing which they can raid (my premises)," he said when contacted after questioning by the police.
Rafizi, who was questioned for about 20 minutes today at the Tropicana police station, added that police have called him in as a witness and not the suspect.
“They are looking for the leak in the Finance Ministry,” he said, refusing to reveal the source of his information.
He admitted that although he will “fight it in court”, he is bound to be jailed the moment he is found to be guilty of possessing a classified document.
“There is no defence,” he said.
An offence under the Official Secret Act 1972 carries a mandatory sentence of minimum one year’s imprisonment.
“This means (Pakatan Rakyat) cannot lose the elections!” he quipped.
Earlier today at a press conference, Rafizi alleged that the said documents indicate that a French company Thales International had used local company George Kent as a “go-between” with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in securing the extension project.
