PKR director of strategy Rafizi Ramli today said he will answer in
court all questions regarding the secret documents that he had allegedly
revealed during his expose on the Ampang LRT extension project.
"I refuse to answer the police’s questions today, as I was exercising my right not to answer if the answer can implicate me.
"This
means the police can now send me a summons notice to hand over the
documents, failing which they can raid (my premises)," he said when
contacted after questioning by the police.
Rafizi, who was
questioned for about 20 minutes today at the Tropicana police station,
added that police have called him in as a witness and not the suspect.
“They are looking for the leak in the Finance Ministry,” he said, refusing to reveal the source of his information.
He
admitted that although he will “fight it in court”, he is bound to be
jailed the moment he is found to be guilty of possessing a classified
document.
“There is no defence,” he said.
An offence under the Official Secret Act 1972 carries a mandatory sentence of minimum one year’s imprisonment.
“This means (Pakatan Rakyat) cannot lose the elections!” he quipped.
Earlier today at a press conference, Rafizi alleged that the said documents indicate that a French company Thales International had used local company George Kent as a “go-between” with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in securing the extension project.
