Pakatan Rakyat have urged the authorities to lay criminal charges
against distributors of malicious flyers, which claimed that DAP was out
to challenge Islam as the official religion.
At a press conference today, Sekinchan state assemblyperson Ng Suee Lim (left)
showed the offending flyers, allegedly obtained from an event organised
at Meru, Selangor by Jati, an NGO led by former Selangor PAS
commissioner Hasan Ali.
The flyer addresses Muslim Malays, and asks, “Are you willing to let your children become Christianised by DAP?”
It
then lists a series of events which supposedly will take place if DAP
comes to power, including Christianity becoming the official religion,
English becoming the official language and Penang Chief Minister Lim
Guan Eng relocating his office to Singapore to have weekly meetings with
former Singapore prime minister Lee Kuan Yew.
“The police should
enforce the law and ensure that it is clearly stated on each flyer who
is the publisher of the material, and not allow us to be defamed
anonymously,” said Ng.
Ng was speaking at press conference demanding that the police stop political violence against opposition politicians.
Other
Pakatan leaders present included Meru assemblyperson Abdul Rani Osman,
who is also the Selangor PAS chief, who highlighted a series of physical
attacks on Pakatan leaders and ceramahs that have taken place in recent
months.
