Sale of military secret: Why the deafening silence?
YOURSAY ‘Our national security is under threat. The government should act by conducting an immediate investigation headed by a senior judge.'
Navy mum on alleged sale of defence secrets
Sa Tombs: ‘Even a fish won't get caught if it doesn't open its mouth' is an old Confucius saying.
Now do you expect anyone from the Defence Ministry (Mindef) to open their mouth? Our armed forces will always speak the truth, so it is better to keep silent.
Besides that, don't forget the Official Secrets Act (OSA), which is the favourite weapon of the government's leaders.
All other countries move towards greater transparency but we are going back to the Stone Age.
R Venugopal: An act of treason has been committed at the highest level and we are keeping silent. Why are the OSA supporters not taking any action on the culprits who have caused serious damage to the country?
Our national security is under threat. The government should act by conducting an immediate investigation headed by a senior judge.
Bmjr: When the Navy spokesperson refuses to comment, it only means that the entire BN government right down to the civil servants are on the take, the corruption is systemic and it will take the country another 50 years to reduce the level of corruption to an acceptable (if there is such a thing as acceptable corruption) level.
Can we ask the cabinet to lobby for full marks be given to the government, the civil service and the armed forces for their corruption?
Mushiro: Whoever did it has exposed the lives of our men and women in the Navy, Army and Air Force to danger.
If this Navy man refused to comment, it shows that he has bowed down to political pressure. All faith is vanquished, how to trust you now?
Asamko: The butt wrigglers are now having constipation.
Our armed forces chief, who was quick to appear on national TV to deny former Perak MB Nizar Jamaluddin's allegation that the PM had met the armed forces chiefs, doesn't seem to be concerned about this alleged sale of defence secrets.
What has he got to say to our king. The rakyat are crying to know the truth.
Anonymous #67264380: What are we going to sell next? Wait, see what the Defence Ministry is going to buy next.
Shame on you for stealing the rakyat's money. Can the Agong as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces do something to save the rakyat's money and bring the wrongdoers to justice?
Blind Freddo: By right the Navy should not comment, but the defence minister should.
Here's yet another case of the good old Malaysians strategy of when you are 'up the creek', say nothing. Another of the beautiful Asian values.
Odin: The absence of a denial from the Navy except a refusal to comment or to elaborate says it all. It is a confirmation that the sale of the defence secrets did indeed take place.
Artchan: Surely there are some good men in the Navy. And surely there are some good men in the police, Army, Air Force, and Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) as well.
May all these people stand up and be counted, and give Malaysia the respect it deserves on the international front.
Headhunter: As far as former political analyst and PM Najib Razak's close ally Abdul Razak Baginda is concerned, since Mongolian translator Altantuya Shaariibuu's murder cannot sink him, selling the country's secret will eventually bring him to justice.
The question is, will Razak Baginda take all the blame or will he bring down those who were with him as well?
Their days are numbered. The finger-pointing game will begin soon.
Lim Chong Leong: Why no comment? Oh, because we haven't received any arahan (orders) on what to say.
That means orang atas (superiors) haven't cooked up a story yet. But don't quote me lah, please.
PKR to Najib: Explain 'sale' of secret navy document
YF: The weakest link in our country's defence is not our armed forces, it's our leaders from Umno and BN.
It only takes a Kitul to cause the downfall of the Malacca empire. For Malaysia, it only takes a modern Kitul in Umno and BN to cause the downfall of the whole nation.
Jstom: Najib's reply - If I have to reply to every figment of imagination of foreign agents, we have to be here until the cows come home.
Dumbo119: Butt dance in front of the Defence Ministry, anyone? Or are the army veterans only know how to bully the defenceless?
