SHAH ALAM, June 7 — PAS MP Khalid Samad has accused “Umno agents” of trying to bribe a PKR lawmaker to cross over to Barisan Nasional (BN), and today furnished excerpts from a three-hour video to back his claim.

In the four minute collection of still images from the longer recording taken in a restaurant some time last year, five people are seen sitting at a dinner table seemingly negotiating the price for the unnamed PKR lawmaker.

According to Khalid, the recording was done without the knowledge of the “Umno agents.”

Two of the five people (both male) were identified as the alleged Umno representatives. Another two, a man and a woman, were identified as PKR representatives for the said lawmaker.

The last person, said Khalid, was the driver for the men said to be Umno representatives.

Attempts to identify the individuals were unsuccessful as the recorded images were unclear.

“We have this on video, proof of what happened over a year ago. We are releasing it now just before the next general election.

“What we can see here is a discussion between Umno-BN agents who want to buy over a PKR MP,” the Shah Alam MP told reporters.

Today’s excerpt, said Khalid, was only the beginning and that the full recording will be released next Tuesday.

The PAS leader said he had further proof that the same “Umno agents” had approached several other Pakatan Rakyat (PR) lawmakers with the intention of bribing them to jump ship.

“The standard price, according to this video, is RM2 million,” he said.

“We will give BN until Tuesday to explain... the MPs who were approached will also come forward,” said Khalid.

He also said a police report will be made on the matter after the release of the clip next Tuesday.
