Jingga 13 presses MACC to act on 'MP-buying' video

PKR-linked graft watchdog Jingga 13 has hit out against the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) inaction on revelations of attempts to bribe opposition parliamentarians to defect.

The group’s secretary DK Vicky, in a statement today, said that Shah Alam PAS MP Khalid Samad’s exposĂ© warrants attention as the video evidence of the “despicable act” is proof of an “evil conspiracy” to get opposition MPs to jump ship.

“MACC’s deaf, blind and dumb attitude and double-standards when it comes to investigating money politics or bribing of MPs, when it comes to probing into the deplorable, dirty act by an Umno agent,” he said.

Urging the commission to investigate the allegations without fear or favour, Jingga 13 said that the purported Umno agent should be brought to justice.

On June 7, Khalid played a four-minute audio recording, accompanied by grainy still pictures from the full three-hour video, of the purported buy-out to reporters.

He later released another sequence of the footage which includes a person who is allegedly former PKR member Zamil Ibrahim, listing out 31 PKR MPs that he intends to approach.

Zamil, however, has denied that he is the Umno agent but admitted that his mission is to see PKR destroyed.
