Suspended Indera Mahkota MCA youth chief David Choi has urged senior party leaders in the government to give the assurance that the Lynas radioactive waste will be shipped from Malaysia and to guarantee that with their ministerial posts.

mca indera mahkota youth chief david choiChoi (left), whose membership was suspended for three years last month, led a delegation of MCA Youth members in support of the Occupy Balok-Gebeng rally at Balok beach, Kuantan today.
Defying the party's stance to stay away from anti-Lynas events, he threw down the gauntlet to Health Minister Liow Tiong Lai, who is also the Pahang MCA liaison chief, when met by reporters.

"(Liow) kept saying that Lynas' waste should not be allowed to stay in Malaysia, but can he guarantee that it will not take place? Will he resign if Lynas still does this?" said the MCA dissident who is apparently feuding with Liow.

PSC a ‘Lynas spokesperson’

Choi also sneered at the Pahang MCA for setting up a monitoring group on Lynas, saying that it does not address the people’s wishes.

“The people do not want a monitoring group, they want the plant to be scrapped,” he said.

NONEWhen asked to comment on the recent parliamentary select committee’s (PSC) report that gave a go-ahead to Lynas, he said the BN-led committee has become a “spokesperson” for Lynas without considering public sentiment.

Meanwhile, Indera Mahkota MCA youth committee member Leong Boon Kit also pointed out that the MCA’s handling of the Lynas issue does not match the “people-oriented” slogans chanted by the prime minister.

“The people have said they don’t want the plant. (It’s not enough to say) that (the plant’s waste) should be shipped out.

“I think the waste should at best be sent to Liow’s house,” he quipped, rallying behind his suspended chairman.
