'Spending RM1.5mil to protest business losses?'

The offering of luxury cars as lucky-draw prizes in an anti-Bersih Facebook page shows the “fanaticism” of those responsible, said DAP.

In a statement today, DAP Kampung Tunku rep Lau Weng San said this was evident in the willingness of the organiser Jamal Md Yunus willing to lose RM 1.445 million over the car giveaways to protest alleged loss in business during Bersih 3.0.

Commenting on Jamal’s offer of a BMW 530 and a Lamborghini Gallardo to visitors of his anti-Bersih Facebook page, Lau said, “As such .... he will lose RM1.445 million not to mention the discounts he is giving to those who visit his Restoran Sekinchan Ikan Bakar.”

“Is this ‘loss’ smaller or greater than the ‘loss’ he suffered on the day of the Bersih 3.0 rally?

“Therefore Jamal’s allegations that Bersih 3.0 has caused businesses in Kuala Lumpur such as his own to suffer losses is merely fabrication,” said Lau.

“It is clear to us that Jamal’s actions is a political gimmick to divert the people’s attention from the important issue afflicting the country - our unfair electoral system,” he said.

Alleging Jamal for trying to seek publicity, he said the businessman “if he was truly concerned for the petty traders in KL, should better use the money from the two cars to give aid to the businesses”.
