Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has
predicted that the 13th general election would be called by July. He
said there were two indicators.
''The first is that BN has opened its operation centres in all seats. Before this, they were not open. Now they are," Lim told a 1,000 strong crowd at Komtar in his speech at Penang DAP's general election gathering today.
He said other indicator is that the BN appeared to be in a hurry. "The longer they delay, the worse things would be for them," he suggested.
Lim also said that Malaysia would be affected by the economic crisis in Europe, thus it would be better to BN to hold the elections before Malaysia's economy was affected.
He explained that this would be one of the factors which will help Najib call for the election.
Party leaders took turns to beat Chinese war drums to show that they were ready for the polls.
Meanwhile, Lim also warned against "overconfidence and complacency", asking party members to be prepared for the worst.
He referred to a Universiti Malaya survey which indicated that Penang would fall to BN in the coming polls.
"There is no guarantee we will win. Don't underestimate our opponents," cautioned the DAP secretary-general. "We must fight to win," he stressed.
"When they say we will lose in Penang, do not laugh. Maybe our opponents have magic. Don't ever think that this cannot happen.
“They can play dirty, which is why we must always be prepared".
