Selangor Ruler allows removing Hasan Ali from state exco

Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim said today the Selangor sultan has agreed with his advice that the appointment of former state PAS commissioner Hasan Ali as an exco member be revoked.

"As he is no longer a PAS member, I have decided that he no longer qualifies and cannot be an exco member," Khalid told a press conference at the State Secretariat Building in Shah Alam.
khalid ibrahim pc 171111Khalid said this was after he received an official letter, dated Jan 10, from PAS yesterday informing him of Hasan's expulsion by the Islamic party on Jan 8.
He said this after meeting the sultan at the Kayangan Palace in Shah Alam for over an hour earlier this morning.

"I have advised the sultan to revoke Hasan's appointment and His Highness agreed with me and will write the letter to revoke the appointment," Khalid said.
The MB’s move follows the former PAS commissioner's expulsion from the Islamic party last week.

Asked if he had anybody in mind to replace Hasan as the Islamic party's representative in the state government, Khalid said he has not received any official list of candidates from PAS, and would consult with the party's central leadership on the matter in the next few days.
Hasan has submitted leave application
Asked if Hasan had sent in his resignation, Khalid also said that the only communique he received from the former exco member was a letter applying for leave.

Asked if he was jumping the gun by removing Hasan as exco member since Hasan still had an avenue of appeal against his expulsion from PAS, Khalid dismissed the matter.

"There is no provision for a independent assemblyperson to serve as an exco member. This is the decision of the MB and takes effect immediately," he said.

Responding to another question, Khalid said that once the revocation of Hasan's appointment was formalised, Hasan would have to surrender all the facilities, rights and privileges accorded to him as exco member within a reasonable time period.

He also said that the sultan had decreed that the new exco member would be sworn in at a royal ceremony to be held at the Kayangan Palace on Jan 18.

Khalid said that the sultan has entrusted him with the power to appoint Hasan's successor and had asked him to do so judiciously and without being influenced by any quarter.
